Our Story — About Luna Sol Wellbeing

Why Luna Sol Wellbeing Exists

My name is Alex Berrios. I spent over 50 years in the world of information technology — building systems, solving problems, thinking in logic and structure. But nothing in my career prepared me for what came next.

For 20 years, I cared for my wife Kelly. Watching someone you love decline, pouring everything you have into their care, is one of the most profound and exhausting experiences a human being can go through. When Kelly passed, I did not just lose my wife. I lost my identity, my daily purpose, and the rhythm of my life.

I also grew up with dogs — 10 of them over the course of my life. I know what it means to lose an animal companion. The silence they leave behind is real. The grief is real. And the dismissive responses from the world around you — it was just a dog — make it so much harder to heal.

The Problem With Standard Grief Models

When I looked for help, I kept finding the same thing: the 5 Stages of Grief. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. A linear model — a staircase you are supposed to climb, one step at a time, until you reach the top and you are done. But grief does not work that way. Not for caregivers who are exhausted before their loss even begins. Not for people grieving the death of a person they loved deeply. And certainly not for those mourning the loss of a pet — a grief that society too often refuses to take seriously.

Grief is a spiral. You revisit the same feelings at different depths. You think you have moved forward, and then a smell, a sound, an empty water bowl brings it all back. That is not failure. That is how healing actually works.

The Balance Path

Luna Sol Wellbeing was founded on a different approach — one that meets you where you actually are, not where a linear model says you should be. The Balance Path is a 4-phase spiral system built for caregivers, grievers, and pet-loss grievers who are exhausted by one-size-fits-all approaches to healing.

  • Relax — Calming the overactive nervous system. Quieting the fight-or-flight response so your body can begin to feel safe again.
  • Restore — Re-establishing the basics. Sleep, appetite, sensory comfort, and the small rhythms of daily life that loss strips away.
  • Rebuild — Navigating who you are now. Identity, purpose, and routine after caregiving ends or loss reshapes your world.
  • Rise — Expanding again. Allowing joy without guilt. Honoring memory while making room for what comes next.

Who This Is For

  • Caregivers — Those who gave everything to care for someone else, and now must figure out how to care for themselves.
  • Grievers — Those who have lost a person and find the standard models too rigid, too fast, or too clinical.
  • Pet Loss Grievers — Those mourning an animal companion, whose grief is real, valid, and deserving of the same depth of support as any other loss.

If you have ever felt like grief support was not made for you — you are right. It was not. Luna Sol Wellbeing was.

A Personal Invitation

If any part of this resonates with you, I invite you to take the free Balance Path Spiral Assessment. It takes about 3 minutes. It will tell you which phase of the spiral you are in right now — and it will show you a path forward that actually fits where you are. You do not have to climb a staircase. You just have to take the next step on the spiral.
